
A petition was filed at the Supreme Court alleging that the Attorney General (AG) and the Bribery Commission (CIABOC) had violated the fundamental rights by failing to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission probing the bond scam.
Attorney Nagananda Kodituwakku filed the petition in which the Attorney General, members of the Bribery Commission and members of the Bond Commission were cited as the respondents.
The petition states that the Presidential Commission investigating the Bond Scam had issued a number of recommendations to the Attorney General and CIABOC.
However, although more than one year has passed since the recommendations have been issued, the Attorney General and the Bribery Commission has failed to implement them therefore, the petition request an issuance of an order declaring that it violated the fundamental rights.
The petitioner has also asked the Supreme Court to issue an order to the Attorney General and the Bribery Commission to investigate the relevant recommendations.
