One person has been killed in a threewheeler-van collision at Halgahadeniya Junction, Pitipana which had caused injuries to two persons, stated the Homagama Police.
The accident had occurred last evening (18) and the injured persons had been admitted to Homagama Base Hospital, stated Ada Derana reporter. One person out of the two admitted to the hospital, later succumbed to the injuries.
The deceased had been the driver of the three-wheeler and was revealed to be a 57 year old from Gabadawatte area in Pitipana.
Other person who travelled in the three-wheeler is currently receiving treatment at the Homagama base Hospital.
According to the police, the three-wheeler had collided with a school van which was traveling towards Pitipana from Thalagala after dropping off the children at schools.
Residents of the area who helped to admit the two injured persons said that, both driver of the three-wheeler and the passenger had been under heavy influence of alcohol.
Driver of the school van has been arrested with regard to the incident and will be presented at the Homagama Magistrate’s Court today (18).
Traffic Unit of Homagama Police is conducting investigations on the incident.
