Commander of Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J), Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, says that if the Sri Lanka Army is given permission they would be able to put an end to the criminal gang known as ‘Aava Group’ which is operating in Jaffna, within two days.
Speaking at a press briefing held at SF–J Headquarters, he said that certain individuals who are engaged in politics and groups with various opinions are attempting to shatter the prevailing peaceful environment.
If the army is given permission the ‘Aava Group’ which is operating in Jaffna with be eradicated within two days, he said, while adding that under existing laws only the police can take action on this.
However, the Jaffna Security Forces Commander said that the government has been notified that if this situation continues to prevail, the army will step in.
