
The new electoral organisers appointed by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have received their letters of appointment from President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s House.
The SLFP Central Committee recently removed seven electoral organisers for failing to establish electoral committees.
Several UPFA MPs who had quit the unity government were among those removed from their posts such as Susil Premajayantha, Lakshaman Yapa Aneywardena, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa. T.B. Ekanayake, Tharanath Basnayake, W.D.J. Seneviratne, Chandima Weerakkody and Gunaratne Weerakoon.
New electoral organizers were appointed to replace these members while they were officially presented with letters of appointment by President Maithripala Sirisena last evening (21).
MP Dayasiri Jayasekara was appointed as the SLFP Kurunegala District Leader and Co-Chairman of District Coordinating Committee as well as Co-Chairman of Pannala regional coordinating committee.
Minister Faiszer Musthapha was appointed as the SLFP electoral organiser for Central Colombo while former Kaduwela Mayor G.H. Buddhadasa and Western Provincial Council member Hector Bethmage were appointed as Co-Organisers of Kaduwela.
Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna was named Co-chairman of the Gampaha disitrct coordinating committee while State Minister Piyasena Gamage was appointed Co-Chairman of the Galle district coordinating committee.
Amila Harshana Kariyawasam was appointed as the SLFP’s organiser for the Benthara-Elpitiya electorate and co-chairman of the Benthota reginal coordinating committee.
