Politicians should be disqualified from governing sports - Sajith

Minister Sajith Premadasa says that he believes in the principal that any individual connected to politics must be disqualified from governing sports in the country.
Speaking during a foundation-stone laying ceremony in Beliatta, the Housing Minister said that certain individuals who are being appointed to the Chairmanships and advisory roles of various sports governing bodies “have not even thought about playing those sports.”
He said that all sports in the country should be devoid of political interference with immediate effect. “We must take away the right for any politician to hold office in sports governing,” Premadasa said.
