Minister of Justice and Prison Reforms Thalatha Atukorale says that no citizen of Sri Lanka can be taken to a foreign court or to a military court because Prime Minister Wickremesinghe did not sign the Rome Statute for war crimes in 2002 when he held the premiership back then.
She mentioned this, yesterday (30), addressing an event held in Kahawatte area in Ratnapura.
There are false rumors spreading that the current government is destroying the Buddha Sasana by arresting monks and bringing them to foreign courts and judges, she further said.
Minister further said that certain fake rumors said that if Mahinda Rajapaksa lost the 2015 Presidential election, he would be taken to the electric chair, according to her.
Stating that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa will never have that fate, Minister Atukorale said, Mahinda Rajapaksa should worship the direction of PM Ranil Wickremesinghe when he wakes up every morning, for saving him.
