
Four Tamils charged for conspiring and aiding and abetting the 2008 bombing of a passenger bus in Polgolla, Kandy, have been sentenced to 10 years in prison to be completed within 5 years.
When the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Abeykoon, the defendants pleaded guilty for the charges against them.
Accordingly, HC Judge Sampath Abeykoon sentenced the four defendants to 10 years imprisonment to be completed within 5 years and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.
The Attorney General had filed the case against the defendants, under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), for allegedly bombing a passenger bus and killing 3 individuals in Polgolla area in Kandy, in 2008.
