Police and army won’t be given special powers – Rajitha

Every political party except the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have agreed upon holding the Provincial Council Election under the old electoral system, says Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne.
He mentioned this at the press conference for informing the Cabinet decisions, held today (03).
Minister also commented on the allegations of President criticizing the IGP’s behavior at the Cabinet meeting yesterday (02).
When media personnel inquired if the government is getting other people to ask the IGP to resign, Minister said that no such thing is happening.
Senaratne also said that the Police should be reformed.
However, the police and the army will not be given special powers due to any reason, he further stated.
