Minister of Health Dr Rajitha Senaratne says that although proposals have been received for the government to take over the hospitals which are presently under the purview of provincial councils, those proposals will not be implemented.
The Minister stated this yesterday (04) joining the event to declare open the international exhibition on Ayurveda, organized by the Eastern Provincial Council for the first time.
This international exhibition was held with the intention of popularizing indigenous medicinal methods, Yunani and Siddi medicine.
Commenting further, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine stated that the issues faced by the hospitals under provincial councils are discussed at provincial health ministers’ conferences.
“In healthcare services, every hospital should be developed as patients arrive at these hospitals regardless of them being maintained under provincial councils and central government. We should provide that service to them,” the Minister stated.
