Education Directors to decide on holding schools in prevailing weather

Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has given instructions to the Provincial and Zonal Directors of Education to make the decision on whether or not to hold schools in areas affected by floods and landslide conditions due to inclement weather.
Accordingly, if school activities cannot be continued due to disaster conditions, the principal can inform the relevant Provincial and Zonal Directors of Education and arrive at a decision.
The decision was taken on the need to take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the children due to prevailing situation, stated the Minister.
