Sergeant accidentally shot inside police station, hospitalised

A police sergeant has sustained injuries after another police officer accidentally shot him at the Dedigama police station.
The injured police officer was admitted to the Kegalle Teaching Hospital last night (09), stated the Police Media Spokesperson’s office.
Reportedly, he has asked for a firearm for the night duty from another police sergeant, who had been on duty on that day.
The other police sergeant had then accidentally shot the leg of his colleague when he was checking the firearm at the armoury of the police station.
Dedigama Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
