Several individuals supposedly belonging to a violent gang that is operating in Jaffna have attacked a confectionery shop in Kondavil area in Jaffna last night (09), according to Kopay police.
The police stated that a group of men armed with swords had arrived on two motorcycles and proceeded to attack and damage the shop.
However, no individual had sustained injuries in the incident, said Kopay police.
As the gang members had their faces covered during the attack, the police have not yet been able to identify the persons responsible for the incident.
Security forces in Jaffna suspect that the attack was carried out by some members of a violent gang since attacks of this sort by violent gangs operating in many areas in the North including Kopay, Chunnakam, Jaffna, Achchuveli are constantly reported.
Kopay Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
