Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) has been ordered to appear before the Appeal Court on the 16th of November regarding contempt of court application filed against the SLMC for failing to carry out the court order to register a SAITM graduate.
Considering the petition filed by SAITM medical graduate Dilmi Sooriyarachchi, Judge Preethi Padman Surasena and Arjuna Obeysekere have passed his order.
Petitioner states that the Appeal Court ordered issued an order to the SLMC on the 30th January 2017 to register her, when she had filed a petition regarding the rejection of SLMC to register her under the SLMC.
The relevant court order was recently confirmed by the Supreme Court as well, pointed out the petitioner.
Accordingly, the graduate student has filed a petition stating that the actions of the SLMC amounts to contempt of court.
