British man drowns at Bentota Beach

A foreign tourist who was reportedly vacationing in Sri Lanka has drowned while bathing in the sea area off the Bentota Beach.
The incident had occurred at around 5.15 p.m. yesterday (11) while the deceased has been identified as British national Critchett Andrew, 49.
Ada Derana reporter said that the tourist in question was sea bathing with another 51-year-old Britisher when they were both swept out to sea by strong currents.
The latter had been rescued and is currently receiving treatment at the Kalutara Nagoda Hospital, he said.
Bentota Police is conducting further investigations while the body of the drowning victim has been placed at the Nagoda Hospital.
