Two sentenced to death for possession of heroin

Colombo High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi has sentenced two persons to death for the charge of holding 122.68 g of heroin today (16).
The two defendants were arrested on December 2010 on a police raid conducted in Mirihana area.
The case against them was filed by the Attorney General for the possession of illegal drugs.
Following an extensive hearing, Judge Kaluarachchi stated that the charges against the defendants have been proved without reasonable doubt.
Accordingly, the judge ordered that the two defendants were to receive the death penalty.
