The case filed against MP Namal Rajapaksa and three others, over the investment of Rs 15 million in ill-gotten funds in NR Consultancy (Pvt) Ltd., which is allegedly owned by the parliamentarian, will be taken up on March 07 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The case was taken up before Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage today (25).
The Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) informed the court that further actions regarding the case will be taken based on the instructions of the Attorney General after submitting the relevant documents of the investigations to him.
Accordingly, the Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered to take up the case on March 07 and called for a progress report on the investigations.
The case was filed by the FCID against MP Namal Rajapaksa and three other suspects under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act for allegedly investing Rs 15 million, supposedly earned through illegal means, in NR Consultancy (Pvt) Ltd. while serving as a parliamentarian during the administration of the former government.
