
The prevailing showery condition in the Eastern Province is expected to enhance to some extent today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places over the island after 2.00 p.m.
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Eastern and Northern provinces in the morning too.
Heavy falls of over 100mm will occur at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Eastern provinces and in Galle, Matara and Poḷonnaruwa districts.
Sea Area:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island and heavy showers or thundershowers can be expected at some places in the eastern sea areas, the Department of Meteorology stated.
Heavy showers or thundershowers can be expected at some places in the western and north-western sea areas in the evening or night too.
Winds will be North-easterly and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph over the sea areas extending from Batticaloa to Puttalam via Kankesanthurai.
Wind speed can increase up to 40kmph at times in these sea areas.
Winds will be variable in direction and wind speed will be 10-20 kmph in the other sea areas around the island.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
