
Three armed men have robbed cash and gold jewellery from the branch of a state bank at Mattegoda today (26), police said.
The suspects had arrived at the bank in a car at around 3.30 p.m. to carry out the robbery armed with a pistol.
They had reportedly made off with cash and gold jewellery valued at nearly Rs 10 million.
The suspects had reportedly also taken the bank’s CCTV camera storage system with them before fleeing the scene.
Information has been uncovered that the car used by the suspects had been stolen from a cab service after strangling its driver.
