Rs 1 mn in cash robbed en route to bank

Two unidentified persons have robbed an employee of a filling station in the Iratperiyakulam area in Vavuniya, when he had been on route to the bank to deposit the cash from the filling station.
Vavuniya Police stated that two persons had arrived on a motorcycle and robbed around Rs 1 million in cash from the filling station employee.
The incident had taken place last evening (01) on the Vavuniya-Kandy road near Thekka Watta area.
Reportedly, the suspects had fled the scene through byroads.
Search operations are being carried out to apprehend the suspects and Vavuniya Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
