
Supporters of United National Party (UNP) have launched protests in several areas against the current government.
Reportedly, UNP supporters commenced a protest today (04) in Vavuniya town, demanding reconvening of the parliament by respecting democracy and to remove the illegitimately appointed government. The protest has been organized by the UNP organizer for Vavuniya electorate P. Karunadasa.
The protestors demanded to regain the power by presenting the majority at the parliament. They further say that the unconstitutionally appointed new PM should be chased away and a democratic rule should be established.
Karunadasa stated that along with the TNA, UNP will work towards removing the new government.
Additionally, similar protests were held in Ambalangoda and Ratnapura areas, stated Ada Derana reporter.
