Minister of Education and Higher Education Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says that the education on arts given to students through the school system is inadequate.
He stated this addressing the National Literary Arts Festival held at the Walasmulla National College, Matara.
Literature should not become a subject that is written in a book and passed at exams, but something that we should carry within us as we live, the Minister said.
He further stated that there are only 50 schools that have permanent principals although nearly 352 schools are in the country.
