President to request CJ to hurry verdict on parliament dissolution

President Maithripala Sirisena has stated that he will request the Chief Justice through the Attorney General to deliver the verdict on the dissolution of the parliament without delay.
MP Wimal Weerawansa mentioned this earlier today (10) with regard to the fundamental rights petitions filed at the Supreme Court against the President’s decision to dissolve the parliament. He said that the said request will be made tomorrow (11).
Stating that a date hasn’t yet been set for hearing the complaint at the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Court of Appeal, Weerawansa stated that this indicates an unusual situation.
He further said that they believe that the Supreme Court doesn’t want to create anarchy or instability within the country.
