Police said that a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were killed in the incident.

According to police, the two teenagers were walking on the rail track at Jayasundara in Navalapitiya at around 9.10 a.m. this morning (2) when they were hit by a train traveling from Colombo Fort to Ella.

The deceased have been identified as Lalanga Harsha Kumara, 16, and Piyumi Bagya Sewwandi, 15, who are both residents of Nawalapitiya.

Police said that the teenage boy and another girl were walking along the railway track while the other girl was on the phone and walking ahead of them.
