Nadeemal Perera deported to Sri Lanka - sources

UPDATE [09:28 a.m.]: Nadeemal Perera and the prison officer, who had arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (27) following their deportation from Dubai, are currently being interrogated by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), police spokesperson said.

The police said the duo, who arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) via ‘flydubai’ airlines, were not arrested.

Singer Nadeemal Perera (24), who was arrested along with the drug kingpin “Makandure Madush” has been deported from Dubai and arrived in Sri Lanka, according to sources.

Reportedly, a prison officer named Lalith Kumara (52), another arrestee held in Dubai in connection with the incident, was also deported to Sri Lanka yesterday (26).

On February 5th, singer Amal Perera and his son Nadeemal Perera were taken into the custody of Dubai Police along with the notorious underworld leader “Makandure Madush” at a party which involved drugs. Several prominent underworld figures and Sri Lankan celebrities were also arrested at this party thrown by Madush.

Dubai Police had later confirmed no narcotic substances were found in Nadeemal’s blood samples.

Following the arrest of singer Amal Perera and his son Nadeemal Perera, a team of lawyers including Attorney at Law Udul Premaratne had flown to Dubai to represent them.

The father and son were produced before a Dubai court on February 15th and were remanded until February 28th. However, their remand period was later extended for another month.
