A stock of weapons hidden underwater beneath the Hamilton Bridge in Kanamulla, Mundalama has been discovered on a mission by the Mundalama Police, the Special Task Force and a team of Navy Divers, today (05).

Accordingly, weapons including 24 Bora-12 live ammunition, a mechanical part of a Bora-12 firearm, an imported sword, 02 locally manufactured swords, 24 knives, a pair of binoculars, several phone cards, a roll of copper wire, several number plates belonging to Northern and Western provinces, several high-speed internet routers, nozzles used in vehicle injector pumps, and circuits of transformers have been discovered in the mission.

The mission had been carried out for two complete days by the STF officers of Mundalama Police and officers of the Kalpitiya Vijaya Navy Camp.

Ada Derana reported stated that this stock of weapons was found based on a tip-off received by the Mundalama Police OIC.

It is suspected that an organized group may have dumped these in the water to avoid getting caught during the ongoing search operations in the country.

The stock of weapons have been transferred under the custody of the Mundala Police and further investigations have been commenced on this.
