An increase in student attendance at schools has been observed today (08), according to school principals. However, security arrangements at schools and surrounding areas have been further tightened.
Accordingly, student attendance has increased by a considerable amount in the Anuradhapura district, Galle district, and Colombo and suburban areas.
Meanwhile, a tense situation has occurred at the Palannoruwa Maha Vidyalaya, Gonapola, Horana over a suspicious person attempting to enter the school.
An unknown person carrying a parcel had attempted to enter the school last night (07) and the security officer of the school had alerted the parents and the police on the incident.
Reportedly, the search operations launched by the police STF and parents to locate the said person had been futile.
However, no student had come to school this morning (08) over the incident.
