Notorious underworld figure Mohamed Najim Mohamed Imran alias ‘Kanjipani Imaran’, who is currently held in the custody of the Police under detention orders, and three other suspects who were deported from Dubai were produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (08).
Presenting the suspects before Colombo Additional Magistrate Kanchana de Silva, the Colombo Crimes Division said a detention order has been obtained from the Defence Secretary to interrogate the suspects for 90 days.
The police said 27 cases have been filed against Kanjipani Imran for various criminal offences including murder and conspiring, aiding and abetting murders.
Further investigations are being carried out on the suspects, the police told the court.
Accordingly, the Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered the Colombo Crimes Division to produce the suspects before the court again on the 12th of June.
