MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage claims that Ministry of Power, Energy and Business Development Ravi Karunanayake has not obtained the Cabinet approval for the emergency purchase of electricity from a Turkish barge.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo today (09), the parliamentarian stated that legal action would be sought against this.
In addition, the Turkish company which owns the relevant barge has prepared the project documents as well as the purchase agreement, which is generally composed by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Business Development.
The Joint Opposition subsequently filed a case at the Bribery Commission against the emergency electricity purchase.
