A team of Naval personnel rescued 10 fishermen distressed at Southern seas yesterday (11th May), stated the Sri Lanka Navy.
Accordingly, a crew of an Inshore Patrol Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command rescued 10 fishermen distressed at the seas off Ambalangoda, due to capsizing their craft.
This one-day fishing craft had left the Hikkaduwa fishing harbor today morning and just after receiving information about the incident, a naval craft on petrol promptly reacted for a rescue mission on the directives of Naval Headquarters. These distressed fishermen were found at the seas 20 nautical miles off Galle lighthouse and by a strenuous mission, the fishermen were safely rescued.
Later on, the rescued fishermen were brought safety onboard the Naval craft to Galle harbor and they were handed over to their relatives.
