Preacher propagating extremist ideas nabbed at BIA

An Islamic preacher who had propagated extremist ideas on the internet has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) when he was returning from Mecca, last morning (11).
The arrestee has been identified as a 47-year-old named Munajid who acts as an organizer of pilgrimages to Mecca.
A group of officers from the CID and the State Intelligence Service had waited at the BIA to nab him when he was returning from his trip to the Mecca.
The preacher was presented before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court where he was ordered to be remanded until the 14th of May.
