Showers expected to enhance in next few days

The Department of Meteorology says that showery weather condition is expected to enhance in most parts of the island, particularly in south-western part in the next few days.

 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva, North-Central and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota district after 2.00 p.m.

 

Fairly heavy rainfall about 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in Galle, Matara and Nuwara-Eliya districts, it said.

 

Meanwhile the department has also issued a Heat Index Advisory for Eastern Province and in Polonnaruwa, Mannar, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts.

 

The people in those areas are requested be aware as the Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in Eastern Province and in Polonnaruwa, Mannar, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu Districts.
