Sri Lanka registered its highest total in a woman’s World Cup after scoring 282 runs for the loss of 5 wickets against India in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2013.

Eshani Kaushlya’s blazing half century powered Sri Lanka to set the mammoth target in a crucial Group A game on Tuesday.

Kaushalya made unbeaten 56 runs in just 31. Her innings was studded with six boundaries and three sixes.

Electing to bat, Sri Lanka lost opener Chamari Atappatu (4) in the very first over but Yasodha Mendis (55) and Rasangika (84) consolidated Lanka innings with brilliant 117 runs partnership for the third wicket.

At the time when Mendis and Rasangika were looking good, Indian bowler Amita Sharma dismissed Mendis to provide second success to India.

However, Rasangika continued scoring runs and made another partnership with Sriwardene. After adding 67 runs, Rasangika fell prey to Goswami.

Siriwardene also made 59 runs of 67 to help Lanka to post mammoth 282/5.

For India, Jhoolan Goswami was most successful bowler with three wickets while Amita Sharma claimed one wicket.
