The Lotus Road in Colombo has been closed temporarily due to a protest march, says Ada Derana correspondent.
The joint association of ‘state power textile industries’ had organized the said protest march.
The protestors claim that the authorities have promised them a pension salary, however, no such payment has been done as of yet.
They further stated that, as the textile industry was privatized during 1980-1982, the government sector employees in the industry have been removed from their positions, then-administration had promised to grant them pension salaries.
Ada Derana correspondent said five members of the joint association are currently holding a discussion with the Finance Ministry’s representatives while the rest of the protestors are awaiting them to return.
