Sri Lanka set 202 runs target for India

Sri Lanka were bundled out for 201 runs in 48.5 overs against India in the final match of Tri-nation cricket tournament here at Queen’s Park Oval on Thursday.
Put into the bat, Sri Lankan openers failed to provide good start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed both Upul Tharanga (11) and Mahela Jayawardene (22) in quick succession.
However, Kumara Sangakkara and Thirimanne consolidated Lankan innings brilliantly and took the score past 150 without any more damage.
Dhoni’s move to use parttimers Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli helped Sangakkara (71) and Thirimanne (46) to set their eyes on a wicket, which is producing uneven bounce and turn.
It was Ishant Sharma, who brought back India in the game during batting powerplays by dismissing Thrimmanne. R Ashwin struck soon after Thirimanne’s dismissal to claim Sangakkara.
After Sanga and Thirimanne’s fall, Lankan batting collapsed like a house of cards.
For India, Jadeja claimed four wickets while Ishant Sharma, Ashwin, and Kumar took two wickets each.
Earlier, Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni won the crucial toss against Sri Lanka and elected to bowl in the final of Tri-nation Cricket series here at Queen’s Park Oval on Thursday.
