244 army personnel receive promotions

A total of 244 Army officers have been promoted including Brigadiers and Lieutenant Colonels, says Sri Lanka Army.
The promotion was made by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the account of 72nd Independence Day, Army media spokesman Brigadier Chandana Wickramasinghe said in a release.
Accordingly, 17 Brigadiers have been promoted to the Rank of Major General while 45 Lieutenant Colonels were promoted to the Rank of Colonel.
A total of 49 Majors have been given promotion to the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel and 42 Captains were moved up to the Rank of Major. Promoted army personnel also include 80 Lieutenants and 11 2nd Lieutenants.
