
Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the Cabinet of Ministers will be briefed on the problematic situation which has arisen in the energy sector.
Recently, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had arrived at a decision to cut off the power supply for 2 hours daily.
However, the decision was temporarily suspended on a request by Minister Amaraweera.
Accordingly, the Minister stated that he would brief the Cabinet at its meeting scheduled to be held today (05).
The Cabinet will also be informed regarding the payment of Rs 88 billion to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) by the CEB.
Meanwhile, a report has been called from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development and the Ministry of Power and Energy on the recent power cuts, stated Ministry of Power and Energy Spokesman Sulakshana Jayawardena.
