Officers of the Polonnaruwa Special Task Force have recovered a stock of T-56 ammunition, magazines and other goods abandoned at the 503 Kumburuyaya area in Aralaganwila.
The raid had been carried out at around 12.30 pm last afternoon (09).
The stock of weapons and goods were found in a fertilizer bag in the 15 FC field canal in the aforementioned area.
Reportedly, 135 rounds of rusted T-56 live ammunition, 04 rusted magazines, and 03 magazine springs were found in the bag.
Subsequently, the goods and the ammunition were handed over to the Aralaganwila Police.
Onward action will be taken after obtaining a court order from the Manampitiya Magistrate’s Court, today (10).
Aralaganwila Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
