A suspect, who is involved in the murder of a 24-year-old at Jampettah Street, has been taken into custody.
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has made the arrest at Peliyagoda area last night (10).
A handgun, two rounds of 9mm ammunition and a mobile phone have been seized from the suspect.
The suspect was identified as a resident of Hettipola area in Kurunegala, and further probes on him have uncovered that he is in connection with many other criminal activities in several areas.
He will be produced before Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court today (11).
The CCD officers are investigating the incident further.
On the 8th of October last year, unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle had opened fire at a youth at around 7.30 pm. The victim succumbed to injuries on admittance to Colombo National Hospital.
