Welikada prison escapee arrested with heroin

An inmate who had escaped the Welikada Prison 3 years ago has been apprehended by the Nugegoda Crimes Division. at Makambura, Kottawa.
Upon arrest, 4 grams and 800 milligrams of heroin were found on the inmate, stated the Police Media Division.
Interrogations have revealed that the suspect had been serving a life sentence case at Welikada Prison over a case involving heroin.
Reportedly, the suspect had escaped from prison in 2017.
Police have also seized 02 vehicles and 07 mobile phones belonging to the suspect.
A seven-day detention order on the suspect has been obtained through the Homagama Magistrate’s Court, stated the Police.
Further investigations on the matter are carried out by the Nugegoda Crimes Division.
