UNP can’t win even 40 electorates without Ranil – Roshan Ranasinghe

If the United National Party (UNP) goes against the directions of its Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, they will not be able to score even 40 electorates at the upcoming general elections, says former United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Roshan Ranasinghe.

Addressing a public meeting in Diggalpura, Medirigiriya, he said that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa is trying to take over the leadership of the party by throwing out Ranil Wickremesinghe, ‘who is like the father of UNP’.

Stating that this is an immoral act, Ranasinghe says that he does not believe that a party can go on a correct journey by forcefully removing its leader.

Further speaking, he said that today the country is in need of a strong Opposition; however, the UNP does not have the ability to become a strong opposition.

The UNP will be able to win at least 40 electorates at the election by dealing with Wickremesinghe, said Ranasinghe.

If not, UNP supporters will join the ‘lotus bloom’ very soon, he added.
