
Change in prevailing weather condition is expected in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North Western provinces during today and tomorrow (6th and 7th), says the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-western and Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
A few showers may occur in the Eastern and North-central provinces and in Hambantota district.
Fairly heavy falls about 50 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya district during the morning.
The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Galle via Puttalam and Colombo in the evening or night and a few showers may occur in the sea areas extending from Batticaloa to Hambantota via Pottuvil.
Winds will be South-easterly or variable in direction and speed will be (15-30) kmph in the sea areas around the island.
The sea area around the island will be slight.
