
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has signed the nomination papers to contest the upcoming General Election.
Accordingly, the Premier will be contesting the polls from Kurunegala District.
The ceremonial signing of the papers was held following religious observances at the official residence of the Prime Ministers in Wijerama.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, former President Maithripala Sirisena and other party representatives were present at the occasion.
The General Election 2020 is scheduled to be held on the 25th of April.
Rajapaksa is set to contest under the “Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Sandanaya”, the alliance formed by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to contest the parliamentary polls.
