
A slight change in prevailing weather conditions is expected over the island except in Northern Province from tomorrow, 16th to 18th, stated the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts after 2.00 pm, today (March 15).
A few showers are likely in the eastern coastal areas during the night.
Mainly dry weather will prevail elsewhere.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
SEA AREAS
Showers may occur at a few places in the deep sea areas to the south and south-east of the island. Mainly fair weather will prevail over the other sea areas around the island.
Winds will be North-easterly or Easterly and speed will be (20-30) kmph in the sea areas around the island. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Puttalam and the sea areas extending from Matara to Potuvil via Hambanthota.
The sea area extending from Mannar to Puttalam and the sea areas extending from Matara to Potuvil via Hambanthota can be moderately rough at times.
