STF recovers 19,500 kg of refuse tea in Pamunugama

A person has been arrested at the Pamunugama area while transporting refused tea unsuitable for human consumption.
The arrest, based on a tip-off received by the Police Special Task Force (STF), has been made on the Bopitiya-Ja-Ela road.
Upon interrogation of the suspect, a storage facility in Pamunugama was also raided by the officials.
The manager of the warehouse was also arrested in the process.
Reportedly, 17,500 kilograms of refuse tea was found in the container truck and 2,000 kilograms within the warehouse.
The arrested suspects have been handed over to the Pamunugama Police for further investigation.
