Sri Lanka’s measures to control the spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19 has been commended on social media by prominent figures from other South Asian nations.
Faisal Iqbal, Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer retweeting a video clip of Sri Lankans maintaining orderly ‘social distance’ in front of a supermarket, commented,
“This is how an Educated nation with high literacy rate behave! #Srilankan “Covid_19”
Meanwhile, Indian journalist, the Sri Lanka correspondent to The Hindu, Meera Srinivasan lauded the Sri Lankan public health system and called it the ‘best in the region’.
She says that she hopes that the effort and measures taken by Sri Lanka will help ‘flatten the curve’ [slow rate of infection], setting a benchmark for the region.
Srinivasan, in another tweet, commended Sri Lankan public exercising ‘social distance’ when the curfew was lifted for several hours today (23).
