England has won the toss and chosen to bowl first in the Twenty20 international against world champion Sri Lanka at The Oval on Tuesday.
The hosts gave T20 debuts to left-arm paceman Harry Gurney and opener Michael Carberry as well as a first appearance in the format in three years to Ian Bell.
Sri Lanka, playing its first T20 match since the retirements of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, handed a T20 debut to Kithuruwan Vithanage in the middle order.
