Over 5,000 have left for homes after completing quarantine

A total of around 210 more individuals, including students and state officials are to be flown to Sri Lanka tomorrow (6) afternoon from London by a SriLankan Airlines flight and are to be taken to the tri service -managed Quarantine Centres (QCs) for quarantine process, the army chief said. 

 

Head of the (NOCPCO), Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said that 47 individuals who underwent quarantining at Punani and Air Force-run Welisara QCs after conduct of PCR tests on them left for their residences today (5) with Quarantine Certificates.

 

By today (5), a total of 5,089 quarantined individuals from the tri service-managed Quarantine Centres (QC) have left for their homes, he revealed.

 

With detection of a COVID-19- infected three-wheeler driver this morning (5) from Colombo Bandaranaikepura area, a crowd of 29 of his close associates, 27 more who have had close contact with another COVID-19 positive individual, traced from Kolonnawa area, 15 more individuals who have had close contact with a positive case, found from Modera Flats and 67 individuals from 18 families who had kept close contact with a COVID-19 positive case in Kolombissa area in Kandy, altogether 138 individuals in total were accordingly referred to the Army-managed Punani QC.

 

As of now, 4816 persons are still in quarantine in island-wide 39 QCs, run by tri services. By today (5), heroic sailors confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus stood at 329, he said.

 

Similar to last month, up and down transport facilities, coordinated by tri services were made available to over 6,45,000 senior citizens who were supposed to collect their pensions on Tuesday (5), the Commander of the Army stated.
