A special meeting has been called for the minor political party representatives of political alliances that are contesting the General Election.
The meeting will take place next Tuesday (12) at 2.30 pm, according to the sources from the Election Commission.
It is reported that the candidates’ numbers for the upcoming General Election are to be assigned after the meeting. The numbers were to be assigned last week, however, the Election Commission rescheduled the task, taking into account the prevailing situation due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
In the meantime, on May 02, the Election Commission also held a special meeting for the representatives of political parties that had submitted nominations for the General Election.
The pandemic situation and the measures that should be taken during the coming General Election were discussed during this meeting. The meeting was chaired by Election Commission’s Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya.
However, the minor political parties were not called for the meeting held on May 02.
