The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) will be reopened for trading from Monday (11).
The decision comes after the government announced that civilian life and functions at private/public sector entities in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam districts will resume from Monday (11) despite the ongoing curfew.
Accordingly, the trading hours will be as follows;
Pre-open session - from 10.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.
Open Auction - at 11.00 a.m.
Regular Trading - will commence after the Open Auction at 11.00 a.m.
Market close - at 1.00 p.m.
The CSE had previously declared market holidays on several occasions due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.
The CSE, in consultation with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), initially closed the market for four days until March 20, in order to minimize public interactions with the aim of curbing the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of all market participants.
However, on March 22, the Board of Directors of the CSE again declared a market holiday for two days from March 23 - 24, in view of the extension of the curfew in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam.
Several days later, it was announced that the CSE will remain closed for trading from April 01 until the curfew is lifted.
