Five more naval personnel, who were identified as COVID-19-positive, have been discharged following their full recovery from COVID-19 virus.
These five individuals include the very first naval person who tested positive for the virus while serving at Welisara Naval Base.
The first coronavirus-infected naval person who was on leave suffered from fever and was later admitted to Polonnaruwa hospital for treatment. After testing positive to COVID-19, he was admitted to Welikanda hospital for further treatment.
Other four naval personnel had been receiving treatment at Homagama and IDH Hospitals.
On that account, a total of 21 coronavirus-infected naval personnel has been discharged from hospitals so far.
Since these sailors were found negative to COVID-19 on the reports of random PCR tests done in and after treatment, they were discharged between Friday (08) and Saturday (09), Navy said further.
Further, these discharged naval personnel were directed to be kept under quarantine for another 14 days following the healthcare instructions.
